Inverted Microscope
Driving breakthroughs in electrophysiology research

A world leader in specialised calorimetry system and battery testing, GP’s client needed to develop a prototype for an isothermal battery calorimeter, a product that tests battery heat outputs from charging and discharging.
The brief was to transform the prototype into a user-friendly product, ready to launch in the energy storage safety market.
Addressing Key Challenges
The calorimeter needed to adapt to accommodate different battery types: cylindrical battery cells as well as lithium-ion pouch and prismatic cells. The solution involved advanced battery clamps with multidirectional latches, ensuring secure and thermally conductive connections while maintaining electrical isolation, for accurate data readings.
A quick-release mechanism was developed, enabling seamless swapping of the different cell types which significantly reduced setup time and enhanced efficiency.
Balancing Form and Function
The design process emphasised usability with intuitive interfaces and sleek, modern aesthetics for a positive user experience. Styling brought the product in line with market expectations, and reflected the wider company brand, and product families.
The isothermal calorimeter was ready for market with form, function, design and usability elevated and finessed, adding clear value to the product and its users.
It has bolstered the existing product portfolio and reinforced the clients reputation as a global leader in energy storage solutions.
