GP’s client set out to design an advanced electrophysiology microscope system with a fully integrated, hands-free system.

A leader in electrophysiology and multiphoton imaging, the client set out to create an advanced electrophysiology system with the largest movable mounting stage ever designed. The goal was to improve precision, usability, and the integration of electrophysiological tools.

Generative Parametrics designed and built the prototype, creating a new product to empower neuroscience and cardiac clinicians and further researcher worldwide.

From compactness to electrical interference:  overcoming complex design hurdles.

The design required addressing several critical challenges:

  • User-Centric Design: Ensuring minimal set up time, ease of use and maintenance.
  • Compactness: Accommodating the space constraints of modern laboratories.
  • Electrical Precision: Protecting measurements from interference with meticulous grounding connections, ensuring the highest data quality.
  • Flexibility and Aesthetics: Configurable setups for eyepieces, cameras, and culture dishes, while maintaining a valued brand look and feel.

Durability and usability were also key, with the system requiring drip resistance and easy maintenance to withstand real-world lab conditions.

Building the Vision

The development began with detailed 3D modeling to ensure seamless integration of components. Each structural element was refined to minimise electrical interference and optimise performance.
