The brief
Making fibre testing faster and easier
A leading provider of integrated measurement systems for single fibres and filaments wanted to improve its flagship product.
The goal was to create a customisable, easy-to-use platform for testing single-fibre hair dimensions, tensile performance and cyclic fatigue in a climate-controlled environment.
The new system also needed to test more fibres at once, make servicing easier and appeal to laboratories worldwide.
The approach
Testing more with less effort
We redesigned the product to increase capacity, make it easier to use and align it more closely with the client’s wider product family.
Key improvements included:
- increasing testing capacity to 250 fibres at once
- making installation, assembly and maintenance easier through a lighter modular design
- improving cable and pipe routing to reduce wear and keep the system reliable over time
- bringing the product’s look and feel closer to the client’s brand
- reducing servicing needs and making shipping simpler.
At the heart of the system is our proprietary Cartesian three-axis robot, which automatically picks and places samples. This allows laboratories to test 250 prepared fibres quickly and accurately at the same time.
We also designed the system to prevent setup errors and make operation simpler for end-users, engineers, sales teams and distributors.

The finished system gave laboratories a more precise, productive and easy-to-use way to test single fibres and filaments.
It met the changing needs of global fibre-testing labs while giving the client’s sales team a stronger, more clearly branded product to champion.
