The brief

Protecting race essentials without adding drag

A Team GB triathlete needed a specialist storage solution for a professional triathlon bike.

It had to carry race essentials securely, including carbon dioxide canisters and inner tubes, without adding weight or disrupting aerodynamic performance.

The approach

Bike storage box close up

Shaped around speed, strength and weight

We developed a lightweight, aerodynamic bike box that protected its contents and fitted cleanly into the bike’s profile.

Inside, a hexagonal core structure added strength and impact resistance while keeping weight low. Using our advanced design engineering model, we optimised the lattice structure to protect stored items from vibration and impact without adding bulk.

We also shaped the outer surface to follow the bike’s profile closely, reducing drag and making the box feel part of the overall design.

Secure storage, built for performance

The finished bike box secured essential items while preserving the bike’s aerodynamic efficiency.

It gave the athlete a practical storage solution shaped around real race demands, and showed how advanced design and manufacturing can solve highly specialised product challenges.
